In the midst of last week’s National Day celebration, a group of men find a patch of grass to begin their prayers. Having no religious faith of my own, I am always impressed and a little mystified by devotion, while I am infuriated by zealotry of all sorts. I wish – devoutly – that the former did not so frequently cross the line into the latter.
