These men found a patch of shade on the crispy grass that runs between a mall parking lot and Old Airport Road. On Fridays, many laborers have the day off, so the city’s shady spots (whether on the side of the road or in a park) are dotted with just this sort of impromptu gathering. When I walked by these men again, about thirty minutes later, five or six others had joined their group and they were sharing a bag of chips. I always wonder what reactions groups like these would get in the States.
